Its been a while since the post season over and the Boston Celtics won the Championship after beat Los Angeles Lakers in the final. But I don’t really care about the champ because they beat Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Semifinal. Cleveland Cavaliers is bringing new bloods such as Mo William, J.J. Hickson and Darnell Jackson to their line up to help King James to get their first NBA Championship title, but the question is: Can They Really Help James To Be The Campion ? Actually I don’t really like Cavs (CLeveland Cavaliers), but I do like Lebron James very much. I watch him play since he still in the High School until now, and boy he really develop as a player in and off the court. The rumor that he will go to New York Knicks or New Jersey Nets (which his friend Jay Z own a minor share of the team) in 2010 because his contract with Cavs is over really makes me excited. Why ?Because I Like New York City (although I haven’t been there before), I like New York Yankees, I like New York Giants and I like to see my favorite player play for New Jersey Nets because the rumor said that Nets will change their home stadium to Brooklyn, New York. The New Jersey Nets already made their move last season by waiving Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson to clear their caps, so they can get Lebron James. But they also want to give King James all the help he needs, they want to get Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire to play in the post. Man, I just can’t wait until 2010 so I can see my hero play for New York City.

Why oh why are black men still allowing themselves to be photographed and portrayed like this?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again the fact that they are wealthy, black guys out there, like who would allow themselves to be depicted without any remorse is sad and disgusting.
And this is another reason why I’m rooting for Obama. Because I’m sick and tired of the portrayal of blacks in the media.
And when I say media I’m including black media in there as well (and if you have any doubts about how we portray ourselves check out BET one of these afternoons)..we’re either over-sexualized nymphomaniacs, dumb baboons or violent, unemployed welfare recipients and if Barack becomes president the image of black men in the media will slowly start to change and at least start to become more reflective of the black men and women I know and see everyday and dare I say the black people most of us interact with instead of these caricatures of a people we’ve become so used to seeing in the media.
And for those of you who will claim that you can’t see any similiarities among the posters…I’m sorry to say this but you’re clearly blind..

- Always remember where you’ve come from. “Despise not humble beginnings.” I’ve heard that statement several times in the past few weeks. Apparantly, LeBron has too…one of his LRMR associates is one of his high school teammates.
- Execute a huge vision. The vision for LRMR is huge but succinct. And through focus, LeBron and his team are accomplishing their goals – one by one. Carrying out your big picture purpose reels in long term goals.
- Building a brand is a piece of cake. I just said that to make sure you were awake and paying attention. Actually it’s more like making a cake…from scratch! Personal branding requires a great deal of realism about who you are and what you can do.
